Denzil Douglas to take oath of Prime Minister for fourth time Wednesday

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JANUARY 27TH 2010 – St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil Llewellyn Douglas will take the oath of office of Prime Minister of the twin-island Federation on Wednesday.Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Mr. Erasmus Williams said Dr. Douglas will take the oath before Governor General, His Excellency Dr. Sir Cuthbert Sebastian at 11 A.M.

BVI Premier says PM Douglas’ record of achievement “was tough fight for any opponent”

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JANUARY 26TH 2010 – St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas’ record of achievement was a tough fight for any opponent.So says British Virgin Islands Premier the Hon. Ralph T. O’Neal in a message congratulating the St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister on securing a fourth term in office in Monday’s general elections.
In a congratulatory letter dispatched to Dr. Douglas Tuesday, Premier O’Neal told Prime Minister Douglas that his St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party’s unprecedented win at the polls of an historic fourth consecutive term is laudable given the political winds of change in the Caribbean which have adversely affected long serving leaders and parties. Labour wins historic fourth term in Federal Elections

KITTS, JANUARY 26TH 2010 – The political will of the people of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis was boldly manifested when the electorate voted the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party into power for a fourth historic consecutive term on Monday, January 25.
Jubilation followed in every constituency where Labour had won and a massive Labour crowd descended on Central Basseterre to celebrate the victory on Tuesday morning after all the results were in.
Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, thanked the electorate for their tremendous support, especially the young Labour Movement, and his ministerial colleagues. Labour Party supporters take to the streets in St. Kitts to celebrate
Posted on January 26th, 2010 No commentsBASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JANUARY 26TH 2010 – Huge crowds are celebrating around St. Kitts and Nevis early Tuesday as it was confirmed that the incumbent St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party had won Monday’s general election.
The SKNLP was returned to power in Monday’s general election with a slightly reduced majority in an election Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas described as one “of the most crucial” in the history of the twin island Federation.
Preliminary figures released by the Electoral Office show that that the SKNLP, had won six seats on St. Kitts as compared to the seven seats it won in the 2004 general election. Read the rest of this entry »

PAM Manifesto has serious financial complications, could lead to collapse of St. Kitts and Nevis economy
Posted on January 25th, 2010 No commentsBASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JANUARY 24TH 2010 – PAM’s “shopping list” in their manifesto will push the National Debt to over 200% of GDP so they have stop talking about that topic, Prime Minister Douglas disclosed on Sunday night.
“I have asked the economic and financial technicians in Government to analyse the fiscal impact of the PAM Manifesto and although they are still counting, they are already projecting that the implementation of such a manifesto, would result in huge deficits and push the debt well beyond 200% of GDP if the economy does not collapse before it reaches that point,” said Dr. Douglas, who pointed out that for the last decade PAM has been complaining about the National Debt and in their 2010 manifesto barely mentions the topic.
