Health centres and schools:
- Labour has dramatically increased the number of health centres, day care centres, primary schools and high schools throughout the federation.
- Labour has exposed young people to the widest range of subjects from which to choose.
Information Technology Centre:
- Established by Labour, this centre ensures that our youth will be able to compete anywhere in the world. It provides certification in computer hardware support, web development, CISCO networking and much more.
- Negotiations are underway to provide Prometric and ICDL accreditation as well.
- Labour pledges to provide every child of high school age with a brand new laptop computer to ensure they are in step with the digital revolution.
Investment in higher education:
- In Labour’s 14 years in power, we have provided the federation’s young people with $75 million in student loans to study overseas. In the 15 years the other administration was in power, they provided the nation’s young people with $1 million.
Sports programmes and facilities:
To develop and celebrate youth athletes:
- Labour established the Under-13 Cricket Festival, the Under-16 Netball Competition and athletic summer camps.
- Labour rebuilt Warner Park.
- Labour built Netball City, Conaree Stadium, St. Pauls Stadium, Cayon Stadium and the Silver Jubilee Stadium.
- Labour will soon replace Carnival City with a multi-purpose sports and cultural centre.
Special programmes for youth:
- For children in trouble, the new state-of-the-art residential facility at Harris’ will be opening shortly.
- For young people who are not in trouble, but need to acquire skills, Labour has established the multi-million dollar YES Programme.
- For responsible young people, Labour has made homeownership a reality.
- Labour has turned more young people into homeowners than any other government in this country’s history.
