Infrastructure Investment:
Labour has put in place an impressive tourism infrastructure including:
- The re-designed and complete revetment of Port Zante.
- Expansion of the R. L.B. International Airport.
- Provision of an extensive network of roads that serve our fellow-nationals and also help to make St. Kitts-Nevis a more appealing destination.
St. Kitts-Nevis is now considered a competitive sports tourism destination as a result of Labour having constructed:
- The Silver Jubilee Stadium, the Cayon Stadium, the Conaree Stadium, the St. Pauls Stadium and the Warner Park Stadium.
Associated Economic Activity:
Amongst those whose earnings are increased as a direct result of the tourism industry are:
- Taxi drivers
- Bar owners
- Arts and crafts vendors
- Caterers
- Tour operators
- Various other entrepreneurs, such as the suppliers, book-keepers, owners, and service providers who are economically connected for example to The Strip in Frigate Bay.
Industry Scope and Trends:
- Visitor arrivals will reach 500,000 for the first time in 2009-2010.
- Year-round cruise arrivals are a reality, resulting in the creation of about 130 new taxi operators for 2009 alone.
Air Lift
- In addition to regional destinations, non-stop flights are now available between St. Kitts and New York, Atlanta, Charlotte, Miami and London, with additional flights being added this year.
Tourism Projects and the GlobalCrisis:
Despite the global economic downturn, work continues on major tourism projects such as:
- Christophe Harbour, Ocean’s Edge, Silver Reef, Marriott Condominiums and others.

Labour is committed to continuing this positive trajectory while also:
- Preserving our natural environment.
- Expanding community tourism.
- Facilitating the participation of an even wider range of local entrepreneurs in the economic opportunities generated by the industry.
